Memory & Motif
Range Rover Milan design week 2026
On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, Range Rover presents the installation Traces. Visitors move through three immersive chapters, in which each space is designed to be felt as much as seen. Omnipresent mirrors evoke the infinite possibilities for personalization offered by Range Rover Bespoke—from color and finish to embroidery and material.
The second chapter of the installation, titled Memory and Motif, invites visitors into an intimate environment, where four artists have created designs inspired by their memories of Milan. In response, the Range Rover Bespoke Materiality team produced original embroidery pieces based on each drawn memory. The embroideries, inspired by the artworks of Havass & Hannibal, Lisa Rampilli, Petra Börner, and myself, are displayed in champagne-gold mirrored showcases set within columns, whose reflective interiors multiply each piece infinitely. My personal memory of Milan is linked to a solo exhibition I held there during Design Week in 2015: "The first thing that comes to my mind is the purple wisteria against an azure sky. When I went there for Design Week, spring was still shy here in Amsterdam, and once I arrived in Milan, those flowers were everywhere, like clusters of color floating in the air and celebrating the return of sunny days."
