Brief biography

Born in France in 1975, Jules Julien is a visual artist who lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His work redefine the representation of the human condition — a reflection, situated between a visual anthropology and a personal diary, on the role of images that shape both individual and collective identities. Alternately an art director, image maker, and artist, he explores a visual language known for its sensitivity and emotional intensity. His work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions, including at Diesel Aoyama Gallery Tokyo, La Chapelle des Calvairiennes Mayenne France, Rise Gallery Berlin, Espaï Tactel Valencia, the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud Fontevraud France, and the Palazzo dell’Archiginnasio Bologna. It has also been featured in many group exhibitions, notably at the French Embassy Tokyo, Nuit Blanche Metz, Beyonderground Festival Hasselt, the MuVIM Museum Valencia, KK Outlet London, Plus Gallery Denver, and the West Bund Art Center Shanghai, among others. He also collaborates with brands and institutions including: Apple, Cartier, Camille Claudel Museum, Nike, Stromae and The New York Times.
