“Frères Ennemis” is a series of drawings exploring the double meaning of sibling relationships. Blood ties are sometimes not enough; yet a brother is an alter ego with whom one shares both trust and competition. The series was inspired by a commission from Citizern K magazine to accompany an article of the same title. While creating this illustration, I realized there was potential to develop the concept further, and I felt the desire to turn it into a full series
Cain and Abel are the first brothers to tell this timeless story. Two siblings, yet a multitude of emotions—love, rivalry, and even hatred—come to mind. Blood binds us together, yet it can also constrain us. This series of drawings explores a range of interactions, from confrontations to embraces, from playful gestures to acts of destruction. Built from simple forms and an energetic graphic motif, the works unfold in black, white, and shades of gray, set against vibrant textured backgrounds. At times face-to-face, at times back-to-back, like an object and its shadow, the brothers can never truly separate. It is a reflection on duality, tension, and complementarity.
